Dear Members, Volunteers and Friends of AHDH and Haiti:

We would like to take the opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to all of you for the greatest ever
support received in one year by AHDH, in 2011
. Yes ! The support received over the  past 12 months,
totals more than 50% of all the funds ever received since our founding, in 1986 (see below).

Thanks to all of you, AHDH has a lot to celebrate at the end of this blessed year.
Our 255 volunteers who have made the trips with us so far - countless times for many - who have dedicated
so much love and compassion to our brethren, they know many occasions were simply moments of miracles:
"resuscitating" cholera patients, young Yuri with perforated intestines from typhoid, etc. And that number is
bound to go up as we already have more than 36 volunteers committed for our Winter 2012 Medical Mission.

2011 will remain a year of so many challenges, but of so many blessings and so much progress. Indeed,
AHDH had an extraordinarily productive year, for His Glory and the benefit of the less fortunate ones:

3 medical missions, numerous surgeries (eyes, cesarean, general surgery, medical and pediatric care, dentistry)

acquisition the lot next to the hospital                          thanks to the combined efforts of
                                                                       AHDH and Solidarite Fribourd-Haiti

the cholera crisis response
And we were ready to keep our folks alive!
with our Cholera Treatment Unit                  Death, where is thy victory?                Staff recruitment -MD, RN

AHDH has certainly  “walked the walk”
!                  Engineer Bede Boursiquot and Contractor Jocelyn Wilson
In June we inaugurated the Men’s Pavilion            present the keys to Dr. Nicole V. Michael, Pediatrician
and Pediatrics Pavilion                                         and Charles Rene AHDH Coordinator of Projects, Haiti

While there  we were visited  by another group from
Switzerland, HaiZa, and their heart opened up to our
effort and the remaining 50% we needed to complete
the constructions on the 2nd floor was promised and
delivered,  with inauguration  scheduled for February
2012, during our Winter mission.

By August, AHDH’s Président, Dr.Yvelyne Germain-Mccarthy, was in Rivière Froide, a suburb of Port
Au-prince, developing some new fronts : Education, Community support and artisanat
.

She held a one-week art camp for 45 students; delivered new shoes donated by LSUHSC to those
living in tents; held a meeting with community leaders to consider AHDH’s help for completing a
fountain of purified water for drinking. AHDH has since sent the funds to complete it;  interviewed
Haitian residents of various socio-economic levels to determine their views on how to rebuild Haiti.

She also visited and made videos of the beautiful resorts to encourage tourism -
videos will be available soon.   For a fund raiser  back home, she  purchased
greeting cards  made from bark  of banana trees and  sculptures representing
Haiti Cherie Educating Her Children chiseled from rock with a screw driver.

If interested in purchasing these items, please contact her at ygermain@uno.edu

Looking ahead to 2012:

Soon the word was out for AHDH’s Winter 2012 Medical Mission, February 17 through March 4, 2012,
our 52nd since 1986; thirty-six volunteers already have committed and we had to close registration for
TEAM-1, leaving room only in TEAM-2, Feb 25 through Mar 4.

What can ever be more heart-warming  in this season of Advent /Hanukkah/Ramadan,/Kwanza?

Dear Members, Volunteers, Friends of AHDH and Haiti:

Spending time with family and friends during the holiday season reminds us of the importance of the human
connection that binds us all, and also of our "duty of solidarity" to the less fortunate on Earth. Making your
donation before the close of the year, with the inherent tax benefits for 2011, makes also financial sense.
We hope you will help us with these challenges laying ahead in 2012:

1.       MD’s salary for a second year of employment.
2.       Funds to hire a couple of additional CNAs (Nurses’ Aids)
3.       A Digital Reader for x-ray films (about $24,000)
4.       Chemistry Analyser (Electrolytes): $18,000  (
www.abaxis.com)
5.       CBC machine with platelets: $ quote pending (
www.cliawaived.com)
6.       Nursing Students' support attending Nursing School (in Haiti), about $1,000/yr; 4 yr program,
doing Work Study as a student and committed to return and work for their community for a small
salary for 2 years, then regular salary.
7.       Build our Outpatient Department on the newly acquired property
8.       Miscellaneous medicines and supplies for our surgeries during each trip, about $1,000
9.       Patient  Monitors for OR and ICU, approximately $1,000 each (
www.venturemedical.com)
10.      Fetal Monitor
11.      Funds to hire a Hospital Administrator
12.      Funds to support Riviere Froide Project

You can now make a difference and a big one, by the simplest participation you can barely imagine.

Please, feel free to call me any time or send me a note if you need additional info on any of those challenges
that you feel inspired to support.

You - each one of you - made AHDH's accomplishments possible throughout the last 25 years, either by your
prayers, your positive wishes, your encouragement, your donations,
yourselves (255 so far), or a combination.

Please, stay in touch and in good health, so we can share our blessings (Mat.25:35; Luke 12:48)
