Imminent Steps from AHDH:
* Our first barge, the Caroline, is on its way to Jacmel
* Preparations for the next trip, slated for April 2, 2010
Dear Members, Volunteers, Friends of AHDH and Haiti .
As you all expect from your deeply committed/engaged AHDH over the last 23 years,
after our emergency trip to the "Departement du Sud-Est" (South-East Province) of
Haiti, under the leadership of our President, Yvelyne Germain-McCarthy, PhD, with
extraordinary support from the Haitian Community and our new partners, the
Louisian/Haiti Sustainable Village Project, the Dynamic Industries Inc.,
International Hospital for Children (Dr Heiman), Mr. John Georges, whose
name must be a household name by now in our community (see our report of 2/8/2010
at www.haitiahdh.org), a tremendous effort was initiated, and today we are pleased to
announce that the first barge (100,00 cubic feet), the Caroline, is on its way to
Jacmel, Haiti, and should reach there in 12 days, with tremendous amount of supplies
and equipment for our people so "cruelly" hit by that “incomprehensible" disaster.
But, as long as there is life, there is hope (Tant qu'il y a la vie, il y a de l'espoir), but
hope will come a little faster if we keep our commitments to them.
In Jacmel, the Departmental Delegate, the representative of the executive branch of
the Haitian government, Mr. Fednel Zidor, the Mayor of Jacmel, Honorable Eddo
Zenny, are awaiting the arrival, maybe, of the first vessel to reach that port in decades.
Words will not suffice to thank all of you. We wished we had more space to put all the
photos up; the collection and sorting at Imani Temple, Elmwood warehouse, different
schools, groups... but rest assured that AHDH is extremely grateful to all of you and
knows very well that we are as strong as the support you all bring to the efforts.
Our next trip is slated for April 2 thru the 10th. We intend to take a minimal crew with
us, to offer some emergency surgical services and general medicine care.
We wish to have on board an orthopedic surgeon, a general surgeon, an
anesthesiologist, an ER specialist, 2 RNs and 1 OR tech, and a technician versed in
electricity, plumbing, and God willing, a Bio-Med technician.
For those eager to join the Summer 2010 Medical Mission, that is different from this
emergency trip, as we are planning also that Mission. For info, visit our website, www.
haitiahdh.org, or write to Nicole V. Michael, MD, the coordinator for that trip.

Please, join as you feel the calling, as the conditions are not yet as ideal as our routine
quarterly mission, but it is getting better: Americam Airlines is flying, our charter
partners are also back to fly us from P-Au-P to Jacmel.
Let us all in unison wish God's speed to our first barge on its mission to assist the
sick, downtrodden, hungry, naked as we are all commanded to (Mat.15:35).
Cordially,
Charles
